The Iceberg reveals just 10% of its mass, hiding the rest successfully underneath water.
Humans are similar, well most of us.
It’s difficult to know or understand someone in a few meetings or in a few conversations. Some require weeks of acquaintance and some even years.
We humans are an art in ourselves, a complete story with layers of meaning and interpretations, the meaning depending upon the perception of the viewers and readers.
We are poetry in motion — some romantic, some classic , some funny, and some still discovering their meaning.
This poetry has to be read carefully, unfolded gradually, and many a times in-between the lines have to be read.
One has to dive really deeper to completely (it’s actually never complete but close) know and understand someone. That’s why the saying goes — Never judge a book by it’s cover and humans by their first impression (the second part is my addition).
I feel first impressions are over-rated.
Yeah, their are reasons why it has been given importance but despite that they give incomplete (and sometimes wrong) information and one shouldn’t form their complete impression based on that.
To conclude, I would like to say that one should take out time to know the people around them and even themselves (one would be surprised by the percentage of people who don’t understand themselves well).
One might not make interesting finds in the first few attempts but this will pay well in the long run.
In this journey of life, we meet different types of people, each with their own set of views, experiences, stories and belief systems.
If we could adsorb their good findings and integrate it into our lives then we will enhance and enrich our own experiences.
